This letter by S. Ansky to Tsemakh Shabad is a response to Shabad's request on behalf of the Hevrah Mefitsei Haskalah Society, that Ansky give a lecture to the members of the Society. Ansky offers to come to Vilna on March 31 or April 1. He refers to a summary of the proposed lecture which he encloses with the letter. He requests as payment 50 rubles plus reimbursement of traveling expenses. Signed: S. Rappaport (S. An-ski). There is a postscript. Ansky requests that when Shabad obtains official permission from the authorities for Ansky to give his lecture, that Ansky be listed as an official resident of Chashniki, Vitebsk Gubernia. His official name should be submitted as "Shlyoma Aronov Rapoport."
