Description:

Financial report of the  "Yavneh" Talmud Torah (community-supported elementary school) in Nowogrodek, Vilna Region. Provides information about school, teachers, and their respective salaries. Dated December 8, 1925

The report states that the school has 96 students, of whom 9 are orphans with no parents, and 20 are orphans with one parent.  Those students who have parents are poor, requiring assistance and material support for the school.  20% of the students pay the low tuition fee of 5 or 6 zlotes a month. The curriculum includes the study of Chumash (Pentateuch or the Five Books of Moses), Rashi's commentary, Tanach, Hebrew, Hebrew grammar, Halach (Jewish law), Polish, geography, mathematics and Jewish history.  Those who complete the entire curriculum up to the highest grade continue their studies in the higher yeshiva of Ramayles in Vilna.
