He apologizes for not writing sooner but he wasn't in the mood because Nożyk's glowing descriptions of his new life in Palestine are in stark contrast to the despair in Poland over unemployment. He says that Nożyk should not be insulted at union members who didn't show up to bid him bon voyage because that's the way they are in general: "Everyone lives for himself in his own little world."
