Notice of a sale of candle lanterns and of a public auction for the lease of property in the old marketplace, Minsk.

Document 1 relates to a sale of candle lanterns-- "According to the order of the Civil Governor of August 11, 1839  the City Duma (Council) prescribes herewith to announce at all Jewish schools [synagogues] that the Duma has for sale 55 candle lanterns so that any burger wishing to buy one or several lanterns can do so by coming in person to the Duma at any time. The Mayor T... "

Document 2 dated September 5, 1839,  is a report of the Kahal to the City police that the announcements about lanterns have been made.

Document 3 relates to the lease of sheds on the Old/ Lower Market in Minsk: "According to the order of the Minsk Governor's Board of August 19, the City Duma (Council) announces a public auction of a shed built behind the Lower Market between September 1 and September 4 and orders the Kahal to announce the above in all Jewish schools [synagogues] and to report on that to the Duma. Issued on August 23, 1839, The Mayor Talsky (?) "

[adjacent page] The translation of the council order in Yiddish; the note of Aug. 29 in Russian that the announcement was made by the Gabbay Shteyngaus (Steinhaus) .

The last document of September 1, 1839 is a report from the Kahal that the announcement on the Auction was indeed  made.
