Circular letter from the Central Committee of the Zionist Organization in Lithuania, Vilna, to the local branches of the Zionist Organization calling upon them to strengthen their ties with the Central Committee. Governmental approval for the organization, without which they cannot operate, is expected during the next month. Special instructors will then be sent to all local communities. A Zionist conference is planned for all of Lithuania, and perhaps a combined conference for Lithuania and Russia. This conference will establish the basis for working under the new conditions. Local Zionist organizations are asked to hold special "week of the shekel of redemption" campaigns. Now that the [Paris] Peace Conference is slated to deal with the fate of Turkey, the "shekel" has acquired great political importance. It could demonstrate publicly how much support the Zionists actually have. It is imperative to obtain the largest possible sums from wealthy individuals, All local Zionist organizations are requested to provide answers to the attached questionnaire.
